One way Alan Sheinwald enjoys volunteering in his community is through coaching. Alan coaches an American Softball league for mentally and physically challenged adults. This is an awarding experience for both Alan and the players, allowing them to enjoy the outdoors and America’s favorite pastime while working as a team and engaging in healthy competitive spirit.
This softball league provides mentally and physically disabled individuals with an opportunity to play a game they know and love adapted to their needs and abilities.
Alan Sheinwald has enjoyed watching his team build strong bonds and friendships while challenging and pushing each other to succeed and have fun. Watching the excitement of his players as they make an awesome play or score a winning run is such a treasurable experience that Alan Sheinwald will carry with him throughout his life.
Softball is such an awesome sport to play and coach as it involves a tremendous amount of teamwork as well as individual based skills. The game must be won with a team effort but each individual has a chance to “step up to the plate” to make a difference for their team.
Another interesting thing about softball are the diverse positions and the skills and knowledge necessary to excel at each one. The role of a pitcher is much different from that of an outfielder, shortstop, or first baseman. A catcher sees a complete opposite view of the field from that of the center fielder. Some players are great at batting while others excel at base running. Yet, when all of these perspectives and skills are put together, a team is able to work together as one.
